Children & Adult Education Ministry
supervises and directs all educational programs including the Sunday School, retreats and adult study classes
assists the minister with the needs of the Congregation including preparing the Sacraments in Communion, participating in the Baptismal Ceremony and coordinating funeral receptions in the church fellowship hall. The Ministry also sends cards and makes calls to those who are in need of comfort. The Flower Committee is under the supervision of this Ministry and is responsible for arranging flowers in the sanctuary and distributing flowers to the sick and shut-ins following Sunday worship.
Growth & Fellowship Ministry
sponsors and promotes a wide variety of activities to involve as many people as possible in Christian fellowship. The Ministry attempts to choose venues that appeal to different interests and different age groups and to assimilate visitors and new members into the life of the Church.
Mission & Outreach Ministry
distributes funds to and encourages church member involvement in various charities in Des Plaines and in the greater Chicago area. Community projects include PADS, The Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, and Refugee assistance.
Music and Drama Ministry
sponsors three adult choral groups, a Junior Youth Choir, and an English hand bell ensemble that perform during worship services. These groups also present special concerts, cantatas and programs throughout the year. The Ministry also includes a group of actors, The Chancel Players, who perform during worship several times a year. This Ministry includes an active and participatory musical network, with opportunities for all skill levels, and believes that choir participation offers musical and spiritual growth and many opportunities for fellowship.
provides for the maintenance of the church building and grounds as well as the church-owned parsonage. Most board members have experience or specific skills in areas such as landscaping, building maintenance, steam heating systems, utilities, woodworking and mechanical repair. This is a "hands-on" Ministry that contracts only those jobs it can't personally complete.
coordinates opportunities for members of the Congregation to provide service to the Church. This Ministry is responsible for providing Narthex and Parish House greeters, Sunday office managers, coffee hour coordinators, childcare for various programs, and other necessary services during worship services. Under the direction of the minister, this Ministry also is responsible for liturgists and the planning of special worship services. This Ministry gives direction to the Committee of Ushers and is responsible for the change of liturgical seasonal paraments. In case of the absence of the minister, this Ministry is responsible for pulpit supply.
oversees the Pilgrim Fellowship (PF) and Jr. PF groups for high school and middle school students. The PF sponsors social, spiritual, service and educational events for the youth of our church and the community.
prepares the church budget, monitors income and expenses, approves budget expenditures, makes recommendations to the Congregation Council and conducts the annual Stewardship Drive.
Pastoral Relations Committee
supports and maintains an open relationship between the ordained minister and members of the Congregation. The Committee helps the minister and members of the Church share ideas, hopes, dreams and interpretations of mission. The committee lets the minister know what people in the Church are thinking and also gives a framework for dealing with conflict creatively.
serves in an advisory capacity to the minister and the Congregation Council regarding personnel matters.
